Baer Memorial Park

1101 Bridge Street, Lehighton, PA 18235

History:
  • In 1948, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Baer bestowed seventeen acres of land for recreational and conservation uses to the Borough of Lehighton. The donated land was adjacent to the former Baer Silk Company located at 7th and Bridge Streets. Since receiving the land, the Borough has pursued funding from many sources to build the recreation complex that exists today.
Today:
  • The land received by the Baer’s is now the site of the municipal swimming pool, baseball, basketball, bocci ball and outdoor recreational area. The Mahoning Creek runs through Baer Memorial Park and creates an opportunity for day fishing, relaxation and enjoyment of the natural settings.
  • The Lehighton Area Booster Club utilizes the football field for practices and games
  • The Borough had recently constructed two basketball courts with bleachers utilizing funding from the PA Department of Conservation and Recreation and borough funds.
  • During the Summer of 2021, Parks and Recreation will be organizing basketball leagues for adults, high school students and our youth.
