Lehighton Trailhead

The Borough of Lehighton has recently constructed the Lehighton Trailhead as an anchor to the northern spur of the D&L Trail which extends twenty miles from Lehighton to Cementon. The Trailhead and adjoining parking can hold approximately seventy vehicles. The Borough had funded the trailhead project through the Lehigh Valley Greenways Grant (DCNR), D&LNHC PA Heritage Park Program Grant and local matching funds in cash and in-kind services. Through the grants and local funds, we were able to construct the parking lot, a pavilion and amenities, lighting and signage. ADA sidewalks and curbing upgrades have also been installed.

The trailhead serves as a link for local residents and visitors to our downtown businesses. Whether by foot or by bike, visitors of the trailhead are sure to enjoy the recently constructed trail which follows the Lehigh River. It will also serve as a connection point to the Lehigh Canal Park in Weissport. The trailhead had been dedicated on April 26, 2014 in coordination with a 5K Walk/Run hosted by Leadership Carbon Class of 2014. Leadership Carbon had assisted the Borough with the beautification of the area by contributing planters, tables and bulletin boards to support the local businesses. The Woman's Club of Lehighton had donated the funds for the completion of the Historic Lehigh Valley Railroad mural on the front of the pavilion.
