The Borough of Lehighton is the home to many beautiful and well-maintained parks. Whether you are looking for playgrounds, swimming, sporting fields, fishing, biking, walking or other activities, you will find something for the whole family to enjoy.
Organization Mission Statement
The Board will define and promote events, in the Borough of Lehighton, as well as seek sponsors and raise funds to successfully implement those events through community outreach.
Description of Organization
In June 2016, the citizens of Lehighton, Pennsylvania, came together to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Borough's Incorporation. The programs were so successful in elevating community spirit that Borough Council subsequently enacted Ordinance 2016-663 (amending it with No. 2016-634) creating an advisory Parks and Recreation Board.
The vision of the Parks and Recreation Board is to maintain and grow community spirit within the Lehighton area through special events as well as promoting recreational activities and events throughout Lehighton's many parks.
The Board is always looking to the community for ideas in planning and implementing new events and recreational opportunities to bring to the Borough of Lehighton. We can also assist anyone planning an event and is new to the process. The focus of the Board is to give this town and its residents a reason to get out, socialize and be proud of the direction in which we are headed.
The regular meeting for the Lehighton Parks and Recreation Board will be held Quarterly at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building on the third Monday in January, April, July and October.
